Carpark North will write Official Song
The Danish band Carpark North – with hits like “Human” and “Transparent and glasslike” – was never in doubt, when they were asked.
The Danish rock band Carpark North has received the honor to create the musical signature for the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
The Organizing Committee’s Chief Marketing Executive, Maja Grimnitz says:
“It is amazing that it has been possible to get a Danish band to deliver the Official Song of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship song, and it just makes the joy even bigger that it is Carpark North,” says Maja Grimnitz, who thinks the band is a perfect fit for the sport and the event:
“Their music contains a lot of explosiveness and energy, so it is the perfect match for ice hockey. We are looking forward to hearing the song and are certain it will be a well-placed slap shot of an anthem.”
The band that is performing in Copenhagen’s Royal Arena on Saturday, 11th November with its new album is excited about the opportunity:
“When we were asked, we were never in doubt about whether or not we should accept. It is a great honour to be able to deliver the theme song to the biggest sports event on Danish soil ever, and we can hardly wait for January to come around when we will present the song. Ice hockey is a tremendous crowd sport with lots of action on the ice and terrific fans in the arenas,” says the lead singer Lau Hojen.
When the song is ready for all to hear, you will of course find it on the official site and Facebook page of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
