The 2018 official song is here
The official song of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship by Danish band Carpark North has been released.
When some of the world's biggest ice hockey heroes come to Denmark in May to fight for medals and honors at the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Danish band Carpark North will have a central role in the world event.
The Danish band Carpark North was contacted by the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Organizing Committee back in September and asked to write and perform the official song of the first IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on Danish ice, and they were never in doubt about whether or not they should accept – even though the scope of project only became clear later:
“It is not every day that you are asked to create the musical signature to a World Championship, so we didn’t really need much time to think about it. However, we were at that time not aware of how huge this championship is, that was something we realized while we were working on the song. We have tried to create a voluminous rock song, that celebrates the spirit around such a major global sporting event. And we are also proud to feature Finnish rock star Samu Haber in the song,” says singer Lau Hojen.
A song for the world
The 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship will have more than 1.3 billion TV viewers worldwide, and more than 400 media representatives will attend the event in May, to cover the games and the “hockey fever” in Copenhagen and Herning. And the song “Heroes” will have a special meaning.
The Organizing Committee’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Maja Grimnitz explains:
“There will be a huge international focus on Denmark, when we will be a first-time host to the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. ‘Heroes’ will be the song of the entire Championship, and it will be played massively before and during the championship, where a large number of television broadcasters will contribute to the song being played around the world, and in huge music markets such as the US, Russia, Germany, and all over Scandinavia.”
